Loren has been making pottery for more than 20 years. She works primarily in porcelain, creating functional wheel thrown ware firing to cone 10 in a reduction kiln. Loren holds a BFA from Syracuse University where she first found her love of clay studying with David MacDonald. Since then she has studied with many people including Cliff Mendelson, and Harriet Ross at the Westchester Art Workshop and Collette Smith, and Reena Kashyap at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester to name a few.

Loren has taken numerous workshops with notable ceramists, such as Suze Lindsay, Julia Galloway, Matthew Metz, Bob Briscoe, Woody Hughes, Gay Smith, Ellen Shankin and Walter Ostrom, many of whom have influenced her work.

Loren has exhibited her work at the Westchester Art Workshop Gallery, Westchester Community College Juried Show, The Garrison Art Center’s annual “Clay Pot Luck” show/sale and The Flat Iron Gallery in Peekskill, NY. Together with the Hudson River Potters, she has exhibited at the Greenburgh and Eastchester Libraries and the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts in Mt. Kisco, NY. Loren has participated in the Clay Art Center’s members’ shows and exhibitions and has shown and sold her work at local craft fairs.



Loren’s work was published in Westchester Magazine, September 2005 and featured in the Up Front section of Ceramics Monthly, November 2006 as well as ‘500 Pitchers’, Lark Press 2006

In addition to maintaining a studio at her home in Ossining, Loren is an Associate Member of the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY.
